a) To comprehensively enhance students' English language knowledge and skills including reading, listening, speaking, writing, grammar, vocabulary and so on.

a)

Statistic Report of Students' Participation

The new English syllabus requires the incorporation of e-Learning component into the existing academic teaching. Every year we provide the annual statistic report of participation of the students for the schools who join the scheme; thus helping teachers achieve subject targets effectively, as well as figure out students' acceptance of e-Learning systems.

b) English Learning Performance

The report also includes the results and performance of students from Primary 1 to 6 of the schools which take part in the scheme, analyzing the strengths and weaknesses of Hong Kong primary students' English ability. The analysis is so detailed that even study of comparison between boys and girls of the same aged is also included.

c)

Analysis of Common Mistakes in English

The exercises are specially designed. An analysis of common mistakes of students will be provided after finishing the exercises. Such analysis can help teachers enhance teaching effectiveness.

d) Comparison of Students' Participation between HK-wide, Districts and Inside-school

The participation rate of the scheme inside school is to be compared with the rate of the schools in the same district as well as all the schools in Hong Kong. From the information of students' participation of the scheme, we compare the participation rate between boys and girls of the same age, between students of different school years and between students of different districts. The factors affecting students' acceptance of e-Learning systems can then be clearly identified.

e) Comparison of Students' Learning Performance between HK-wide, Districts and Inside-school

By tracking students' usage situation and participation of the English 8 Octopus Pilot Scheme, we analyze the strengths and weaknesses of students' English ability of different ages, genders and districts. This helps teachers find out how well the performances of their students are when compared with students from other schools.

In order to raise students' interest in learning English outside classroom as well as helping them on writing, this year we are going to hold a competition "Grammar Champion" in the first term on the website. To encourage outstanding students, English 8 Octopus will deliver various prized to winners of each level.
